Ayutthaya - 7th Feb

76 KM north of Bangkok, once the capital of Thailand, this little ancient city is an island within the mainland. Surrounded by the merging river of Pa Sak (on the east) and the famous Chao Phraya River running in from north west to the south
One may choose to visit the sites on elephant back..
Wat Chaiwatthanaram.. WHAT..? There are 80 WATS within this 2.5 sq km island of Ayutthaya..?? well, guess I stop here..
Side by side with Maha That, stands and huge site call Wat Ratchaburana...
One of the many sites in this city..

How did one ended up embeded in these roots..?

Sadly most of the head and limbs were lost to unscrupulous looters over the years.. ofcoz also having gone through many wars..

blocks of stones prepared for the carvings.. this temple, Maha That has the most Buddha statue
